Its feathery wings,

 

Its leathery head,

 

So tender and loving—

 

The king of the dead.

 

Disguised with the ugliness

 

That it was unfortunately bred.

 

 

This magnificent bird

 

Now low in the ranks

 

Instead of high soaring

 

It merely sank.

 

 

Guiltless it suffers

 

Innocent it is.

 

Brutally murdered

 

Diminished to history.

            About the wicked sweet bird

 

            Called the California Condor

              Save the condor

 

               Let the bird soar

 

               Cause it's falling to the floor

 

 

Verse 2:  I'm a Preacher

 

              For this creature

 

              We'll be a helping hand

 

              I'm think'n

 

              Their extinction

 

              Is not part of the plan

 

              The path is clear

 

              Kick into gear

 

              I am hoping that you hear

 

              If we don't act

 

              The impact

 

               Is that all their deaths are near

California Condor

 

It's a bird that flies,

 

and eats anything that dies.

 

It digs in with it's bald, bald head,

 

but is being killed by poisonous lead.

 

Though his head has no hair,

 

he is as big as a bear.

 

But slowly, sadly, still,

 

these condors become hunters kill! 

 

What I mean really stinks,

 

Condors are becoming EXTINCT!

 

This bird is very big,

 

and builds it's nest with a twig!

 

Though he's ugly, bulky, big,

 

us sixth graders help him jig!

 

One problem with such a big bird,

 

it must have some giant turd!

with no strife

it'll fall great depths,

 

with no life.

 

Where the corpses'll lie,

 

here, there, and everywhere.

 

Soon,

 

the California Condor'll be no more.

 

And in our memories we'll know,

 

how high it loved to soar,

 

and how it loved to dive so low.
